Jesus Rodriguez, 65, killed, Irene Andrade Rodriguez, 65, seriously injured, taken to hospital, after their SUV overturns on U.S. 87 near Comfort, while trying to avoid another vehicle.

A San Antonio man died last weekend in a wreck on U.S. 87 outside Comfort in Kendall County, the Department of Public Safety reported Wednesday.

Jesus Rodriguez, 65, was a passenger in a 2004 Ford Explorer driven north by Irene Andrade Rodriguez, 65, when the crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. Saturday two miles north of Comfort, according to a report filed by DPS Trooper Eric Kendrick.

It says the Rodriguez's SUV was attempting to pass another vehicle when that vehicle initiated a left turn, and the SUV flipped when the driver took evasive action to avoid a collision.

Jesus Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, the report said.
