Driver killed in crash in San Antonio crash

A female driver was killed just after 1 a.m. Friday in a crash at San Pedro Avenue and Basse Road, near Olmos Park. She was speeding while heading south on San Pedro in a Nissan Sentra, according to a spokeswoman for the San Antonio Police Department. An unidentified driver of a Dodge Charger pulled in front of the Sentra exiting a gas station at the corner of Basse and San Pedro. The driver of the Sentra punched the brakes, but was not able to avoid hitting the Charger. The woman was not wearing a seat belt. She was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, where she died shortly after arrival. The driver of the Charger had been drinking but was not intoxicated, according to police.
