Second child dies following rollover accident on I-35, near Von Ormy.

A rollover accident on northbound I-35 has claimed the lives of two children.

The crash was reported just after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at mile marker 142 near Von Ormy.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, there were 5 passengers -- three adults and two children -- inside the Chevy Tahoe when it flipped over near a concrete barricade.

A 4-year-old died at the scene of the crash. Police said a 3-year-old became trapped under the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital.

That child, identified as 3-year-old Christian Cordona of Katy, Texas, died Thursday evening, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officers at the scene stated that the children were not wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation; however, police believe the driver may have swerved and over-corrected the SUV
