46-year-old woman critically injured, 46-year-old man and 50-year-old man injured, all transported to hospital, after a car collides with an SUV at the intersection of U.S. 281 and the TPC Parkway in San Antonio.
Woman hurt in wreck on U.S. 281.
A woman, 46, sustained life-threatening injuries when a Miata convertible she was riding in was T-boned by a Chevrolet Tahoe at 9 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 281 and TPC Parkway.
A man, also 46, was driving the convertible, which was turning left onto TPC Parkway from southbound 281. A man, 50, driving the SUV northbound, ran a red light and crashed into the convertible, said Sgt. Ramiro Juarez of the San Antonio Police Department.
The SUV plowed into the passenger side of the car, where the woman was sitting. She sustained “massive head trauma” and had to be extricated, Juarez said.
She was taken to University Hospital.
The man driving the SUV was arrested and will face a charge for driving with a suspended license, Juarez said. Police are investigating whether he was speeding.
“We don't think alcohol or drugs played any factor in it,” Juarez said.
None of the people involved have been identified.
Police blocked off two northbound lanes of the highway while they investigated, causing heavy traffic.
