Monocan Trail Road closed after uneven construction zone causes 5 accidents in 2 days in Charlottesville, Virginia
Monocan Trail Rd. Closes After Multiple Crashes
Some are saying the construction is the culprit. One woman who lives nearby says Tuesday night her husband pulled one of the drivers out of a crashed car, just moments before a tractor trailer went zooming by in the same lane. In total, Albemarle County police say there were five wrecks this week, three on Monday night, and two last night. All near the same stretch of 3200 Monacan Rd. where the Virginia Department of Transportation is paving. The area is marked by several uneven lanes signs, and now one of those lanes is closed until both lanes are on the same level again. “You have a difference in height of a couple of inches between the lane that you’re in and the lane next to it. And that can cause a driver to lose control if they hit that bump and they're not expecting it. So we really do caution drivers to please stay alert,” said Lou Hatter, a VDOT spokesman.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medial treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
