Bicyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in crash involving vehicle

A bicyclist is in critical condition after a crash involving a motor vehicle in the 8000 block of Raymond Road on Wednesday morning, according to Madison police.

Emilly Zhu, 23, of Madison, died Saturday at a local hospital from injuries sustained in the crash that occurred Wednesday in the 8000 block of Raymond Road, the medical examiner's office reported.
A 23-year-old woman was riding a bicycle on a bike trail when she attempted to cross Raymond Road and was struck by a car. A nurse passing by performed CPR until first responders could arrive, and she was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The man driving the car told police that he takes the same route every day to work, and that he was unable to see the biker until it was too late.
