An eight-year-old boy died after an accident at the Elm Street School in Gardner Thursday. The Worcester County DA says a large television and cart fell on Colby O’Brien shortly after 4 p.m. He was transported to Henry Heywood Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A reverse 911 call went out to parents Thursday night informing them of the accident. Grief counselors will be available at the school Friday. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.

A Depew man was charged with violating Leandra’s Law after a deputy discovered him impaired by drugs while he was driving with two children in his car, the Erie County Sheriff’s reported. A deputy responded to an accident involving two vehicles on Main Street at Sandridge Road in Alden about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. During his investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles, David Wilczak, 30, admitted he had been using heroin that day, but he refused to submit to a blood test, according to the deputy. Wilczak had two children, ages 5 and 9, in his vehicle at the time of the accident.

Authorities are trying to figure out why a car crashed into a plasma center in southwest Houston. It happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Grifols donor center located in the 8400 block of W. Bellfort near S. Gessner. Authorities said a woman in her 20s drove the vehicle into the building. Houston police and firefighters with the Houston Fire Department responded to the scene.

A woman believed to have been drinking and two children in her care were hospitalized late Wednesday after being hit by a car while jaywalking in El Cajon. The accident was reported just before 11 p.m. on Jamacha Road at Lexington Avenue, a El Cajon police Lt. said. The 22-year-old woman from El Cajon said she was the godmother to the girls, ages 2 and 4-years-old, police said. All three suffered minor injuries. The 59-year-old man who was driving the SUV that struck the trio stopped. He was not injured and not cited, police said.

A 2-year-old boy was struck by a car and killed outside an elementary school Wednesday, authorities said. The boy was walking with his mother after dropping off his sibling – a kindergarten student – at Ansgar Larsen Elementary School in Oxnard, the school’s superintendent said. The toddler’s mother was walking with the boy and stopped to talk to someone in the parking when a substitute teacher driving in struck the child. A spokesman with the Oxnard Police Department said the tragic incident “looks like it was a complete unintended accident” and there are “no criminal elements” at play.

New Orleans Police arrested the driver they say is responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy who was on his way to school Monday morning in Gentilly. The NOPD announced shortly after 1 p.m. that the car suspected in the incident, a dark gray Honda Crosstour, had been located in the 1600 block of Charlton Drive in Gentilly. About 30 minutes later, an arrest was announced but no further details were provided.

Eight people were injured in a crash Monday morning in the Fuller Park neighborhood. A 29-year-old woman driving a minivan west on 43rd Street ran a red light and smashed into a sedan carrying seven people heading north on LaSalle Street around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. A Fire Department spokesperson said three adults were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition, two adults were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition, and three children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

Newport News Police have charged a mother with DWI after a crash Sunday night. Newport News Police stated that officers were dispatched to the area of 48th Street and Roanoke Avenue around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a possible accident. There, they found a vehicle in the bushes surrounding a cell tower on the south side of 48th Avenue. Eley said the driver and her three children were in the middle of the intersection. All were cleared medically but the driver had an odor of alcohol.

An El Mirage woman accused of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident had her 7-year-old son in the vehicle when she was arrested early Saturday morning, police said. Tiffany Pemberton, 31, of El Mirage, faces several charges, including aggravated DUI, aggravated assault, endangerment and hit-and-run with injuries. The hit-and-run accident occurred just after midnight Saturday in the area of 107th and Olive avenues. The two occupants of the other vehicle were injured but are expected to be OK. Pemberton fled the scene and half-a-mile later, ran out of gas.

A crash involving a Town of Kewaskum ambulance, a school bus and another vehicle injured six people Friday, five of whom had to be taken to hospitals, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Conditions were not immediately available on the five, who included three ambulance staff, one patient being transported and the driver of the other vehicle, according to a sheriff's office news release. According to the release, the crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 45 and County Highway H/Badger Road in the Town of Kewaskum.
