The Okeechobee County Sheriff's office made a surprising discovery recently after deputies responded to a single vehicle accident.

The crash happened on March 21st in the 168th block of Highway 441 North.

Deputies found the driver of the car, Abey DiazPino, age 44, dead at the scene. The sheriff's office then turned the investigation over to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP responded to 1185 NE 342 Trail in Okeechobee to notify the victim's family.

Cale Drumm, 39, of Stillwater, was driving a 1967 Ford Mustang on McMurtry Road west of Stillwater shortly before 6:45 p.m. Friday when he ran off the right side of the road. Drumm then swerved left, sending the car into a broad slide, troopers reported. The car then ran off the left side of the road, striking a tree.

Troopers reported Drumm was driving at an unsafe speed at the time of the crash. He was transported to OU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m. Friday.

Aubrey Baty was driving east in the westbound lane of I-40 near Czech Hall Road shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday when he struck a semi truck driven by Humberto Ortego Jr., 64, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Baty, of Mustang, was pinned for a half hour before Oklahoma City firefighters pulled him from the wreckage, troopers said. He was transported to OU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

A father died in a crash in Waverly Friday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Brad Hilton lost control of his SUV while maneuvering a curve along Meadow Run Road around 7:30 p.m. The vehicle went off the road and overturned.

Hilton was not wearing a seatbelt. He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Hilton's 15-year-old daughter survived the crash. She was flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A man who San Diego police said was traveling a high rate of speed was killed Friday in a crash in the Tijuana River Valley.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Monument Road, police Officer Frank Cali said.

The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a raised asphalt curb and a rock. The 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup then rolled off the road, the officer said.

The man died at the scene from head injuries, Cali said.

His name was not yet released by the Medical Examiner’s Officer.

A Laurel man was arrested Friday evening after leading police on a chase through town.

Laurel police say Mario Edward Berger, 23, was seen at 6:43 p.m. driving a silver Mitsubishi sports car north on South Fifth Avenue. Berger was driving recklessly, according to police.

An officer tried to stop Berger, but he sped off east onto West Main Street, and went through a red light at Fifth and Main. Berger then turned left onto Second Avenue and ran two more stop signs, according to police.

A flight student and instructor are recovering from minor injuries they sustained when their small plane crash landed on to a building’s roof in Vicksburg on Friday.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong says the plane went down after experiencing engine problems.

The student and teacher tried to turn around and go back to the Vicksburg Municipal Airport but didn’t make it. The plane ended up on the roof of Cooper Lighting.

That building is right next to the airport, and there’s damage to the roof.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Officials say texting and driving was a factor in a fatal crash early Friday morning.

Emergency responders were called to a report of an accident to U.S. 40 east of the Manhattan road just after 5 a.m.

Reports show a Ford F-150 driven by Darrel Meaden, Jr., 30 of Brazil, was traveling east on U.S. 40 when the truck left the roadway.

The truck then struck an embankment and caused the vehicle to go airborne, roll and then struck a tree.

Meaden was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A Roy, Utah man was killed Thursday night when he crashed on a curve and rolled on Interstate 80 about 19 miles east of Rock Springs, Wyo.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend said that several motorists told troopers that the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix being driven by 33-year-old Nathaneal Chase had been traveling at excessive speed westbound about the time of the crash.

Chase, who was partially ejected from his car as it rolled off the left side of the freeway, was dead at the scene.

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a Friday collision in West Valley City.

The man, 60, was driving east on 3300 South about 12:25 p.m. when he collided with a westbound SUV that was turning south. The motorcyclist was flung 20 to 30 feet, at which point his body struck a stopped car and slid underneath it, said West Valley City police Lt. Dalan Taylor.
