Columbus, GAA motorcyclist crashed after a high speed chase with authorities in East Alabama, according to the Lee County sheriff.
Officials say the chase began when the motorcyclist was speeding and deputies attempted to pull him over at the intersection of Lee Road 212 and Lee Road 240 in Lee County.
Officials say the man, later identified as Travis Cooley, 23, then sped off in the wrong direction on Highway 431. The chase ended in a crash at Knowles Road and 5th Street in Russell County.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Seattle-Tacoma, WAA pedestrian died after he was hit by a car in a Puyallup crosswalk Thursday. Officials have identified the man as Christopher Kerns, 42. from Federal Way. It appeared the driver failed to stop at a red light about 7 p.m. on River Road while heading south on North Meridian, hitting an employee of a nearby Ford dealership in the crosswalk. It looked like the Lexus traveled a “considerable distance” down the road with the pedestrian on the hood of the car, jumping up and over a curb, hitting a sign and then four vehicles. Investigators had not yet determined what caused the crash.

Wednesday, April 16, 2014A woman and a small boy who died Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 80 near Madison Avenue were from Southern California.
The Sacramento County Cororner’s office identified the victims of the car crash as Carrie Tricia Sears, 40, of Encino and Skylar Eubanks, 4, of West Hills. Encino and West Hills are neighborhoods in the city of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley.

Louisville, KYA five-year-old boy died after Louisville Metro Police say a hit-and-run driver drove his minivan onto the sidewalk and struck the child as he rode his scooter in a yard. Authorities say the child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested a suspect, Edward Pearce, age 24, on Skyline Drive, near his home, a short time later. Pearce is charged with murder, DUI, fleeing and evading, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

Hartford & New Haven, CTPlainfield Police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.
Police said Edward Grenier, 56, of Moosup, was struck near the exit of Chucky’s Convenience Store, at #219 Main St in Moosup, just before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
When police responded to the scene, he was lying on the side of Main Street, suffering from injuries that are not believed to be life- threatening.
Police said he was allegedly struck by a Silver Nissan Altima with a Massachusetts license plate and the driver left the scene, headed south on Main Street, and struck Grenier.

Riverside, CAA woman crossing a street in Riverside was struck by a vehicle and killed on Thursday. Police are investigating.
Authorities responded to the accident in the area of Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway at about 7:40 a.m. Witnesses told police that a 60-year-old woman was crossing the street without using a crosswalk when she was struck by a gold 2004 Ford Explorer.
The pedestrian was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where she was declared dead. Her name has not been released.

Portland, ORAn 11-year-old girl was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for minor injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Ridgefield this morning. The crash was reported about 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of Division Street and North Main Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was a 31-year-old Ridgefield woman, was not injured, Dawdy said. Ridgefield police were called to the scene to investigate the crash.

Boise, IDParamedics and sheriff's deputies responded to an ATV crash about five miles into the Boise foothills Thursday morning.
The crash happened just before 7:15 a.m. near the Hulls Gulch area.
Authorities say an adult male was riding an ATV on a marked trail when he attempted to drive around a locked gate just off Sunset Peak Road, known by many as the 8th Street extension.
The man rolled down a steep embankment and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
He was able to call 911 and guide rescuers to his location.

San Bernardino, CAOne person died and nine others were injured when a van plunged down the side of the 10 Freeway early Thursday.
California Highway Patrol officers say the crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. when the driver of a 2006 Ford Econoline van approached slowing traffic on the westbound 10 just west of Cedar Avenue. He hit the brakes and lost control.
“As the van left the freeway lanes, it struck a tree and began to overturn and eventually landed in a drainage ditch,” said CHP Officer Leon Lopez.
Three people suffered major injuries and six received minor to moderate injuries.

Augusta, GAA Warrenville man has died after being struck by Norfolk Southern train this morning in Aiken County.
Coroner Tim Carlton identified the deceased as Robert Norman Bisou, 32.
Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Eric Adbullah said Norfolk Southern contacted the sheriff’s office around 4:15 a.m. after the train struck Bisou near Carter Street and Bath Lake Road in Warrenville.
