Lilburn Police have identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash late Thursday night.

Police say 34 year old Troy Hermandson died at the scene at Hood Road near Remington Court in Lilburn just before midnight.

According to police, Hermandson was driving too fast when he lost control of his motorcycle. The rider went off the road and crashed into a mailbox before hitting a power pole.

One neighbor reported hearing an explosion at the time of the crash.

The force of the crash caused the 2012 Yamaha to split in two.

It was bad luck for the moose and a close call for four men in their 30s traveling on Route 2 in Westminster early Thursday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, driver Eric E. Smith, 36, of 18 Jackson Hill Road, Gardner, hit and killed a large moose with his 1997 Subaru Legacy while traveling east on Route 2 near exit 26. Passenger Jeffrey Tuax, 30, was treated for minor injuries; Bryan Meuer, 34, and Chris Comer, 37, also in the vehicle, were not reported injured, according to state police.

One person was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash in Thornton late Thursday night, according to police.

The crash happened at East 97th Avenue and Race Street just before 10 p.m. on Thursday.

The initial call to police came in as a hit-and-run. The victim was later identified as Joshua Stewart, 29.

But a sergeant on scene said everyone involved in the crash was found.

No word on if any charges will be filed.

UPDATE: Cynthia Marie Vigil, 52, and Dannel Bond Kimble, 26, have been arrested and charged in connection with this accident. 04/24/14.

A two-year-old girl is dead after a minivan hit her near Pecos Road and Lake Mead Boulevard Thursday night.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Pecos near Dillon Avenue. Police say the child was in the northbound lane of Pecos Road, when a Ford Windstar that was also traveling north struck the child. Police say a second vehicle may have also hit her and drove away.

The girl died before emergency crews could take her to the hospital.

One person was injured after an accident in west Houston Thursday.

It happened in the 18000 block of South Park View Drive.

The speed limit there is 30 miles per hour, but police believe the woman behind the wheel was driving much faster.

Investigators tell us the woman, who's believed to be in her 30s, was driving east on South Park View toward Barker Cypress when she lost control of her Dodge Challenger, hitting a median then an oak tree.

Police identified the victim killed in a single-vehicle wreck that happened Thursday night in Huntsville.

Authorities said 66-year-old Wayne Carter Gardner was killed when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and struck a gas lamp post on Ledges Drive near Carl T. Jones Drive.

Police said Gardner died from his injuries at the scene of the wreck. Authorities said he was the only person inside the vehicle.

Investigators said toxicology tests are pending in the case.

An Agawam driver was arrested and charged with drunken driving following a Thursday afternoon accident on South West Street in which a pedestrian was struck while walking along the side of the road, police said.

The driver, Cathy Sabol of 668 South West St., was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and causing serious bodily injury, marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.

A 69-year-old woman has been killed in a collision with a dump truck in Frisco.

Police say just before 1 p.m. Thursday, Betty Tucich, 69, rear-ended a dump truck on U.S. 380 near Preston Road.

Tucich was driving a Honda minivan eastbound and hit the truck as it was coming to a stop at a red light, police said.

Authorities are still investigating what exactly caused the collision.

A male motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car on Military Trail in Riviera Beach Thursday afternoon, according to Riviera Beach Police Department.

Police say the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital as a trauma victim and three people in the car were evaluated at the scene.

Military Trail Southbound will be closed from Beeline Highway to Canterbury Drive pending conclusion of the police investigation.

A teenage girl is dead and another is recovering at a Jackson hospital after a single car crash this morning on U.S. 49 in Yazoo County around 8:30 Thursday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol says 17 year old Jasmand Johnson died at the scene. MHP says another student, 19 year old Latoya Goins, was pulled out of the car by a witness as it began to catch fire.
