Police have found and recovered the body of a young woman who was in a car that crashed into Lake Waco on New Year's Eve. Brittany Stevenson, 24, was initially thought to have exited the submerged vehicle after divers spent hours searching, but found no trace of her. However, Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton released a statement that divers had recovered Stevenson's body. Stevenson was in a Kia Forte that smashed through a guardrail and over a dirt barrier into Lake Waco around 11 p.m. Wednesday. A second woman in the car was able to exit the car and swim to safety.

At about 4:30 a.m. at 4700 Boone near Bellaire, a driver lost control of their vehicle and veered from the road, crashing into a tree. The victim died at the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

San Antonio police have identified a deceased person found Christmas Eve on the city's near South Side. Samantha Contreras, 23, was found deceased Wednesday in the 300 block of Cordero Street near Burbank High School. Police believe that she was the victim of a car accident.  They say she was the driver of a Honda Element when she lost control of the vehicle, rolled the SUV multiple times, and was ejected from the vehicle. Her body landed underneath a truck parked at a residence.

A young Missouri father and his two-year-old son were killed in a fiery collision in Garland late Monday night on Interstate 30. A prior accident had backed up traffic, forcing the Shumpert family’s vehicle to slow down, when a larger SUV crashed into the family’s vehicle. Laura Shumpert has been taken to Parkland Hospital for medical treatment; her condition has not been reported. Her husband, Jarred Schumpert, 28, and 2-year-old son Lyndon were killed in the fiery collision. The driver that caused the crash was taken to Baylor in Dallas, and is expected to recover.

A pilot from Colorado has died in a Texas crash of a single-engine plane that was used for aerial patrols of oil and gas fields. 28-year-old Jeffery Michael McNamee of Littleton, Colorado, died in Monday's crash near Odessa. Investigators are trying to discover the cause of the Cessna 172 crash which ended up burning in a field.  The wreckage was discovered when dispatchers lost contact with the pilot and sent another aircraft to search for the aircraft. A Dallas teenager was killed after he was hit by an intoxicated driver who ran a red light just after 1:00 a.m Saturday on Clark Rd in Duncanville. The driver of a Nissan GTR ran a red light, crashing into a Mercedes at the Camp Wisdom and Clark Rd intersection, and then knocked down a utility pole before slamming into a doughnut shop. The driver of the Mercedes, Taurean Babcock of Dallas, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Babcock’s passenger was taken to a Dallas hospital, and that person's name and condition are not yet known.

At about 12:15am, a truck containing two 20-year-old men crashed and rolled over on Southwest Loop 820, leaving both men ejected from the vehicle. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while the other was tranpsorted to the hospital with several injuries. Check back for more details and updates on this accident.

Michael Tovar was driving on Southton Road when he crashed into a guardrail. He died from his injuries not long after. Authorities are unsure if alcohol was involved in the crash.

At around 7:30 a.m. Friday, Martha Perez, 52, was struck and killed by a northbound driver along Alpha Road near Preston Road in Dallas. According to the victim's boyfriend, the victim lives on one side of the road and was picking up something from a store on the other side. When she did not return quickly, he went to find her and found her shoe and umbrella in the middle of the street. The driver fled the scene.
