Authorities say an Indiana teenager faces multiple charges after his car struck a Bay County Sheriff’s deputy and later rammed into two patrol cars.
Deputy Steve O’Brien approached a car in a nightclub parking lot after spotting a suspected drug deal taking place late Wednesday night. The car sped off, striking O’Brien, who rolled up and off of the vehicle’s hood.
A spokeswoman says deputies pursued the car until it hit a curb and the driver lost control. Deputies tried to block the car, but the driver accelerated and crashed into two patrol cars, injuring two deputies.
Only the driver was wearing a seat belt when a sport utility vehicle crashed in northern Colorado, injuring five students and two adults from a South Dakota school, the Colorado State Patrol said Wednesday.
The driver was Kyle Henderson, 26, of Box Elder, S.D., State Trooper Nate Reid said.
The other victims' names haven't been released, but Reid said they were three 13-year-old girls, two 14-year-old girls and a 26-year-old woman.
An 84-year-old man has died after slipping on ice outside his home and being accidentally run over by his wife.
Fairfax County Police say the accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Chong Sik Kim of Springfield walked out to the mailbox at the end of his driveway on Hooes Road and slipped on some ice.
At the same time, police say, Kim's 72-year-old wife was backing the couple's Lexus from the garage. Police say she did not see her husband and backed over him.
Kim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 36-year-old Little Rock woman who crashed her car through the front of a local tennis store was driving on a suspended license and didn't have insurance, authorities said Thursday.
That driver, identified in an accident report as Carletha Bunting, wasn't injured in the crash Wednesday afternoon at the Tennis Shoppe at 8218 Cantrell Road, but two people inside were hurt.
Police say Bunting was issued citations for careless and prohibited driving, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.
There was a brief delay in rail service after a Metro Rail train slammed into a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near NRG Park, formerly known as Reliant Park.
The crash caused no fatalities.
The train was headed southbound on Fannin about 4 p.m. and the crossing arms were down when the collision happened.
"The driver of the vehicle was on Naomi and went around the gate and so the train hit the vehicle," Metro spokeswoman Carolina Mendoza said.
Four individuals in the vehicle were transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
The Sacramento County coroner’s office has identified the man killed after his car was hit by a train Wednesday night.
The accident happened at the crossing on Calvine Road just west of Vintage Park Drive around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday. A man – now identified as 40-year-old Dupri Tang – was driving his Toyota Corolla when a train came through.
Witnesses say the crossing arms were down, but the car continued onto the tracks. The car was then hit by the train with such force that the car flipped onto its side and into the center median.
One person was critically injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a city bus Wednesday evening, Phoenix police said.
Two other people suffered minor injuries in the crash at Peoria Avenue and Cave Creek Road.
Besides the bus, as many as four vehicles were involved, according to Phoenix Fire Department authorities.
It appeared no one on the bus suffered serious injuries, fire officials said.
Northbound and southbound traffic is restricted at the crash site.
Denver police are on scene of a traffic accident where a motorcyclist was seriously injured after hitting a pole Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Auraria Parkway, Denver police reported on Twitter.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital.
