Two Santa Rosa women on their way to dinner with their husbands were killed Saturday evening by a suspected drunken driver when his pickup rear-ended the sedan they were riding in as it sat in traffic on Highway 12 near Farmers Lane. Susan Hufford, 53, and her mother-in-law, Sharon Hufford, 74, were riding in the rear of the Toyota Camry driven by Randolph Hufford, 54, with his father Donald Hufford, 74, in the front passenger's seat when it was struck from behind by a full-sized GMC Sierra pickup, CHP Sgt. Erik Egide said.

Police are investigating a collision involving a train and vehicle in Richwood. Officers were sent to the 11000 block of Old Lexington Pike around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. According to police, Melissa Hemingway, 44, drove her vehicle approximately half a mile southbound on the tracks before colliding with an oncoming northbound Norfolk Southern train. The train, estimated to be traveling at 25 mph, went into full emergency brake mode but still pushed the car back 215 yards, officials said. Authorities said Hemingway was taken to the UC Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash in Cedar Rapids Saturday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 151 and Wright Brothers Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. Two cars were traveling on Highway 151 when they collided. Officials say 31-year-old John Morris of Marengo failed to stop on the highway and ran into a car driven by 71-year-old Rose Pudil of Swisher. Both Morris and Pudil were taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids with injuries. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating the crash.

A New Jersey State Police trooper was one of three people injured in a crash on Sunday morning along the Garden State Parkway. The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near mile marker 65.1 in Stafford. Investigators say the trooper had stopped a vehicle. That's when another car hit the trooper's vehicle, causing it to hit the car he stopped. One of the cars caught fire, police say. Two civilians involved in the crash were flown to Atlantic City Trauma Center. The trooper was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

A 72-year-old man from Greenville died after a two-vehicle crash in Montcalm County Saturday morning. The crash happened at 10:25 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of M-46 and Youngman Road in Cato Township. According to Michigan State Police, a 2001 Chevy Malibu was traveling north on Youngman Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at M-46, and collided with an eastbound 2009 Chevrolet HHR. The driver of the Malibu, a 72-year-old man from Greenville was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Police in Camden County are investigating a series of crashes that left one man dead and police searching for a hit-and-run driver. It all began shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday on the Admiral Wilson Boulevard near Lee Avenue in Pennsauken. According to investigators, Victor Gutierrez, 31, was struck and killed by a white van. The driver of that van, Ronale Thomas of Brockton Massachusetts, got out of the vehicle to check on Gutierrez, police say, but was hit by another car. The driver of that car fled the scene.

A man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he crashed his vehicle into a squad car and later blew a .12 percent on a breath test. Around 2:40 a.m., an officer was sitting in his parked police vehicle in the 300 block of South Meridian Street when he noticed a vehicle exiting the wrong way from a parking lot, a police report said. The officer then felt an impact on his car, got out, and saw that the vehicle had hit the left rear bumper of the squad car, causing light damage and scuffing.

A wrong-way driver on U.S. 290 was killed in a collision early Sunday morning when he hit a Jeep filled with Texas A&M students returning to College Station. Jon Fontana was driving a silver Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lane of U.S. 290's 30600 block at about 2:30 a.m., according to press release from the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Fontana collided head-on with a Blue Jeep Liberty driven by Denise Martin, the release said.

A 25-year-old New Britain man was charged with operating under the influence after he crashed into a Middletown police cruiser early Sunday, police said. Christopher Griffiths, 25, struck a cruiser operated by Officer Patrick Kiely at the intersection of Washington and High streets around 12:50 a.m., police said. Kiely was stopped at a red light when Griffiths struck him from behind.

A Tallapoosa County woman died Sunday from injuries she sustained in a Saturday traffic crash.

Linda Faye Parrish, 51, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, from injuries she received when the 1995 Pontiac Sunfire she was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Alabama State Troopers. The crash occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Alabama 22 one mile west of Daviston, which is located in the northeastern part of the county.

Troopers stated that seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash. No other information was made available.
