Police say four people were injured late Tuesday night following a hit-and-run crash in the Bankers Hill area of San Diego. The wreck occurred at 10:30 p.m. at the corner of 5th Avenue and Laurel Street, a San Diego Police Department official said. Witnesses stated that a white Jaguar slammed into two vehicles waiting at a stop light at 5th Avenue then sped off westbound on Laurel Street, leaving a trail of radiator fluid behind. Some of the witnesses followed the suspect vehicle and called police, until the Jaguar came to a sputtering halt on the 2400 block of Brant Street.

Three people were injured Monday night in a four-vehicle collision on southbound state Route 15 near University Avenue in City Heights, authorities said.

All were transported to hospitals, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said. At least one person had to be extricated.

The collision was reported about 5:40 p.m. Four vehicles were initially blocking the right shoulder and two right lanes, the California Highway Patrol said on its website.

A fiery crash left an SUV and an RV charred Monday morning when both went over the side of Interstate 8 near Descanso and tumbled about 100 feet down a rocky embankment, authorities said.

Six people were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.

A San Diego man, 39, was driving an SUV west on I-8 east of state Route 79 about 9:55 a.m. when he made an unsafe lane change and sideswiped the RV, police said.

A San Diego Gas & Electric utility truck was the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run-crash in El Cajon that left a homeless man dead, police said Friday. The victim, Robert Fisher, 54, was crossing Jamacha Road south of East Main Street outside of a crosswalk about 10 p.m. Monday when he was run over by the truck, police said. A few minutes later Fisher, who was lying in the roadway, was also struck by a 2003 Hyundai Sonata whose driver pulled over, police said. Fisher died of blunt force trauma to the head, neck and torso, the county Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The Medical Examiner's Office Sunday publicly named the woman who was struck and killed while crossing Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Friday night.

Sarah Ann Hudson, 25, of San Diego was walking southbound across the eastbound lanes near Doliva Drive about 10:40 p.m. Friday, when she entered the path of an eastbound Ford Escape driven by a 38-year-old man, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and San Diego police.

Witnesses to the crash called for help, but paramedics pronounced Hudson dead at the scene, authorities said.

Three people were hospitalized with major injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle collision on eastbound state Route 56 Friday evening.

The collision occurred near Black Mountain Road, just south of Rancho Penasquitos, around 8:20 p.m., a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

A witness report on the CHP online log said a westbound car had crossed into eastbound lanes of the freeway, setting off the collision, which appeared to involve three vehicles.

The man who was struck and killed by an oncoming train while running after his dog near the train tracks Friday afternoon in Del Mar, Calif., has been identified as Louis "Lou" Terrell, a former mayor and city councilman.

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies say that around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Terrell was walking his unleashed dog on the bluffs near the train tracks in the 100-block of 11th Street when a northbound Amtrak train approached the area and sounded its horn.

A driver led La Mesa police on a chase Wednesday night that entered Lemon Grove and ended in a crash and arrest. No one was injured. At around 9:35 p.m. a La Mesa officer observed a driver in a white Dodge Charger run a stop sign at Waite Drive and Harris Street. The driver ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over, kicking off a chase on state Highway 94 and city streets. The Dodge’s driver turned off his lights and attempted to lose officers by running stop signs and red traffic signals, according to a statement from La Mesa police.

San Diego police were looking Friday for a hit-and-run driver who struck two women on a morning walk in University City. The women were walking along Stresemann Street, near Governor Drive, about 6 a.m. when they passed a parked older-model red pickup, police said. Moments later, the truck struck them from behind and the driver kept going. Paramedics took the women to two hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. Police said the pickup might be a Toyota and may have damage to the front.

A motorist suffered major injuries in a two-vehicle crash Thursday near Barona, authorities said. A white Mazda sedan and a Chevrolet truck collided shortly before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Wildcat Canyon and Featherstone Canyon roads, according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital following the crash, a Heartland Fire & Rescue dispatcher said.
