Pedestrian Killed In Plano Crash

Police say an SUV was exiting a private drive in the 3400 block of Coit Road, when Tombaugh walked in front of the vehicle and was struck.

A Plano man was killed on Wednesday evening after being hit by an SUV while walking on the sidewalk with his wife.

The deceased man has been identified as 44-year-old Terrell Edward Tombaugh Jr.

Police say an SUV was exiting a private drive in the 3400 block of Coit Road, when Tombaugh walked in front of the vehicle and was struck.

The victim was transported to Medical Center of Plano, where he was pronounced deceased.

The police do not anticipate filing charges against the driver, who remained on scene after the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department.

We don't understand why these things happen to good people T.J. was our close friend for 20 years or more they should put this person behind bars I don"t see why the Police wont take further actions instead they let this person off the hook that makes me mad

I agree 100%, Wade. I knew the pedestrian personally, and I am shocked at the fact that no one is pressing charges. Even though it was an accident, and the guy stayed at the scene, there needs to be accountability. He cut a man's life very short. And it makes me wonder just how fast the driver must have been going pulling out of a private drive, that he drug my friend 40 feet before he stopped! TJ did NOT deserve this, no one does, but least of all him. He was a sweet-natured, kind and generous being, and my heart is just broken. I've known him for about 21 years. He was a friend and former coworker.

I absolutely agree. I knew the victim personally, and his family. I cannot imagine the added pain from losing their son that way, not to mention his wife, and knowing that the person responsible will not have charges filed against him or her. Wrong, just wrong. It was a terrible accident, but there must accountability.

Dale and I know T.J. for 20 years he was our very close friend I cant believe that police did not handcuff this person this person will just turn around and do it to someone else, they should of put him in jail and suspended his license for life.

I dont get this... an innocent man is walking along a sidewalk when a person in a SUV only looks one way before driving onto the street, not taking the time to make sure the sidewalk he is about to drive over is pedestrian free, and he isnt even arrested? And I also read in another article that the pedestrians body was dragged 40 feet before the driver finally stopped. I fail to see the logic of the Plano Police Department with this.

When does a man get off by hitting a pedestrian? Then one the victim's name is reported. Something wrong here.
