Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a small plane to crash in Mohave County, killing two brothers on board. Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said the pilot, Daulton Rey Whatcott, 19, was flying with his brother, Jaxon McKee Whatcott, 16, from Bountiful, UT to Mesquite, NV. The 1969 Cessna 172k fixed-wing single engine went down about 150 feet south of Interstate 15 in Littlefield, near the Utah border about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Deputies confirmed the brothers did not survive the crash. They're from Clinton City, UT. No one else was onboard.

Three people were killed in a helicopter crash early Thursday morning in Guadalupe County between Santa Rosa and Tucumcari. The helicopter went down in the eastern portion of the county around 2:30 a.m. The crash scene is north of Newkirk, which is east of Santa Rosa. A pilot, paramedic and nurse were on board at the time of the crash. All were based out of Santa Fe. Harvey Frost snapped a photo of wreckage shortly after the crash.

Six people, including three children, were killed and four were injured Thursday night after a station wagon traveling north on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville lost control, crossed the median and hit a van head-on, police said. Police say the driver of a car, which had four passengers, was headed north on US 27, somehow lost control, crossed the median, and hit another car.

One man from New York City and another from Argentina were severely burned Monday afternoon in a crash in Dutchess County. New York State Police responded at 4:12 p.m. to the crash on Chestnut Ridge Road in the town of Dover. They learned that Pablo Cisilino, of Manhattan, had been driving a 2013 Ferrari convertible south on Chestnut Ridge Road in the town of Washington, north of Killearn Road, at an “excessive speed,” police said. Cisilino lost control of the car and failed to negotiate a curve, police said.

Two drivers were killed in a head-on crash in Kaufman County Saturday afternoon. The Texas Department of Public Safety said a Ford Focus driven by 21-year-old Ashtyn Clark of Crowley was headed north on State Highway 34 near the Hunt County line around 4:30 p.m. when her vehicle crossed the center line of the two-lane road and struck a Ford Explorer. Both vehicles erupted in flames. Clark died along with the driver of the Explorer. Troopers said that person is from Quinlan, but the identity was being withheld while relatives are notified.

Three children -- ages 2, 5 and 7 -- were critically injured late Sunday in a four-vehicle crash in Marion County involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, officials said. The children were airlifted to UF Health Shands after the crash, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 75 at mile marker 345 near Ocala. According to the FHP, 20-year-old Trooper Raul J. Umana was traveling northbound in a marked cruiser and attempted to make a U-turn in the median of the highway. His cruiser, however, struck a guardrail and was redirected into southbound lanes of I-75, the FHP said.

Three people died in a one-car wreck early Friday in downtown Rocky Mount, police said. The incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. when a 2001 Lincoln LS crashed into a building at the intersection of South Grace and Chester streets. “The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Rocky Mount Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire,” Cpl. Mike Lewis said in a press release. “Investigators at the scene recovered the remains of three persons who were inside the vehicle.” The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Rocky Mount police traffic safety unit.

Three teenagers died when a stolen car crashed into a tree and caught fire after a chase early Friday, authorities said. The names of those killed have not been released, but police say they were a girl and two boys, all 16 and all from Modesto. According to Modesto Police Sgt. David Chamberlain, a police officer in central Modesto tried to stop a car after seeing the driver violate a vehicle code at 11:40 p.m.

Two people were injured in a helicopter crash in the area of Welch and Neel roads near the Union/Delaware county line Thursday afternoon. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene where a 2006 Rotorway International EXEC 162F helicopter crashed at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The crash triggered a fire of dried cornstalk clippings that spread across nearly three acres before being extinguished by local firefighters.

Witnesses to a crash on Interstate 95 pulled a woman from a burning pickup truck Monday afternoon, state police said. Amy Strong, 20, of Hampton was driving on I-95 when her 2008 Ford Ranger left the road, struck construction equipment and caught fire around 12:25 p.m., police said. Witnesses smashed out the rear window of the truck and pulled Strong from the fiery wreck, police said. Strong was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Police are investigating the crash.
