Alcohol appears to have played a role in a fatal wrong-way two-car accident that occurred early Thursday on Interstate 5 near Medford. Oregon State Police is asking witnesses to come forward in connection with the crash, which took place around 3:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5 about five miles south of Medford. OSP, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, local fire and medical personnel, and ODOT were dispatched to milepost 24, said Lieutenant Gregg Hastings, an OSP spokesman.

One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Sherwood Wednesday morning, police said.

An SUV, driven by Spencer Ringheim, 50, collided with a dump truck just after 6:30 a.m. on Southwest Roy Rogers Road at Scholls-Sherwood Road, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the SUV died at the scene and the dump truck driver was take to a nearby hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

There were no other reports of injuries.

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday evening's critical injury motorcycle crash that occurred on Highway 99W about one mile south of Dundee in Yamhill County. The operator's name and other information will be released Sunday.

At about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, a motorcycle operated by a male, later identified as Curtis M. Peterson, 24, was southbound on Highway 99W near milepost 28 and failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle traveled off the highway and the operator was ejected, coming to rest in a grassy area adjacent to the highway.

A 16-year-old driver was cited for following too close to another car after rear-ending a car and causing a four-vehicle crash near Redmond in which five people were injured.

It began about 2 p.m. Thursday when a car driven by Donna Woodman, 54, of Redmond, had stopped on Oregon 126 to turn into the Cline Falls State Park lot, Oregon State Police reported.

Her car was struck by car, which then slid off the shoulder and hit a parked truck, troopers said.

Police have arrested a 29-year-old man from Washington in hit-and-run crash in Hermiston on Wednesday that killed a girl, 7.
Jesus Moras Nava from Paterson, Wash., was lodged in Umatilla County jail on suspicion of manslaughter, felony hit and run, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and assault.

A woman--who witnesses said drove an SUV off a 250-foot cliff from a U.S. 101 turnout Wednesday--was identified as a 23-year Lincoln City resident.

An OSP spokesman, said that at 8:40 a.m. a southbound driver saw a 2008 Saturn Vue driven by Adriana Star Ruiz pass their car at a high rate of speed, travel through the turnout and over the cliff.

The SUV was spotted resting 250-feet below on rocks near the surf line below the highway just north of the Otter Crest Loop Road, about 4 miles south of Depoe Bay.

Firefighters rescued a 71-year old Talent area woman from her car Tuesday morning, hours after she intentionally drove of Old Highway 99 south of Ashland and crashed several hundred feet down a steep embankment, police said.

An Oregon Department of Transportation worker spotted the wrecked car shortly before 9 a.m. and called for help.

According to Oregon State Police, a preliminary investigation showed the woman drove off the highway on purpose during the night and was trapped inside the vehicle for hours.

A man died in a traffic accident Tuesday after his car slid into an oncoming semi truck near North Plains.

Paul David Suryan, 34, of Forest Grove was killed at approximately 11:00 a.m. Tuesday after his Toyota Camry crossed the traffic lane along Northwest Zion Church Road and was struck by an oncoming semi, according to Washington County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies believe Suryan was going more than 55 mph when he failed to negotiate a curve and was struck by the westbound truck. Excessive speed was probably the cause of the crash, said the sheriff's office.

A man died in motorcycle accident outside Burnt Woods Monday after he slammed into the back of a pickup truck. At approximately noon, the man was on his motorcycle headed east along Highway 20 just west of Burnt Woods. According to witnesses, he passed a vehicle and moved back into the eastbound lane, said Oregon State Police. Just after he returned to his lane, the motorcycle driver slammed into the back of a pickup truck that was pulling into a driveway. The man was ejected and died on the scene. His name was not immediately released, said police.

Six teens were injured in a rollover crash on a rural Clackamas County road Saturday evening near Molalla.

Clackamas County deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash at about 7:20 p.m., according to a news release from the county sheriff’s office.
