Rescue officials have responded to an ultralight crash in Kokee. Preliminary reports state an Evolution Trikes Revo weight-shift-control aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances on the side of a mountain near Polihale Beach around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Kauai police were notified of a fire, and upon investigation realized the fire was a result of an ultralight crash. Firefighters from the Waimea fire station are on scene. The identity of the victims are unknown at this time. Local authorities are reporting that both people on board were killed.
Investigators believe carbon monoxide may have filled a stranded Jeep at Kaena Point Saturday afternoon, leaving the two people inside in critical condition. Honolulu police say several bystanders found the vehicle in about three feet of water with a 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman unconscious inside, possibly of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Kauai police have arrested the driver involved in a fatal traffic crash in Kilauea Tuesday night.
James Monroe, 51, was arrested Wednesday morning for negligent injury and negligent homicide. Police say he was the driver of the Ford pickup truck that struck and killed a Kilauea man along Kuhio Hwy. at around 7:25 p.m., just south of Wailapa Rd.
Police say a Nissan car heading south on Baldwin Ave. crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist died at the hospital.
He’s been identified as 55-year-old man from Makawao.
As for the driver of the car, he’s been identified as a 69-year-old man also from Makawao, and he was treated for minor injuries.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the crash.
Honolulu police have closed the westbound lanes of North King Street near Gulick Street following a pedestrian accident.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. Thursday.
According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, a 71-year-old woman was apparently hit by a garbage truck. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
HPD Lt. Bobby Towne says the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk.
Waiakamilo Road has been re-opened after a pedestrian accident in Kalihi.
The incident happened just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection at Dillingham Blvd & Waiakamilo Rd.
According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, a 75-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
