A man working on an elevator in a Park Avenue building fell to his death Wednesday, according to a police source.

The man, believed to be a building super or maintenance worker, was found in the elevator shaft at 331 Park Avenue South.

A paraglider pilot was killed after crashing through a frozen river in upstate New York Wednesday afternoon, state police say.

A Jefferson County sheriff's deputy is fighting for his life after a Tuesday-night ATV crash. Deputy Brad Perry was listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman. Perry is a youth services investigator in the Bessemer Cutoff.

A man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van just before 9 a.m. Monday on Perrin Beitel Road on the Northeast Side.

State police are continuing their investigation of a fatal collision Saturday in New Wilmington Township, Mercer County, in which an International truck trailer struck the back of a horse-drawn Amish buggy, killing two of the buggy's passengers.

Authorities say a van crashed into a horse-drawn buggy on a northern Indiana highway, killing the buggy's driver. The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened Monday evening on Indiana 119 a few miles southwest of Goshen when the van drove into the buggy from behind.

Police said a crash that landed two paramedics in the hospital triggered a series of events that led to a deadly motorcycle crash. Paramedics were treating a female dancer from Fantasy Plaza for an injury around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Houston police.
