Sponsored by the Skagit County Bar Association, Community Action's Volunteer Lawyer Program offers free legal assistance to eligible low-income Skagit County residents. The program is staffed by an Attorney/Program Manager and a Legal Assistant. Each year, Skagit County attorneys donated about 1,500 volunteer hours to nearly 500 people for more than $260,000 worth of legal services. Services include pro se (self-representation) family law forms and instructions, weekly legal advice clinics, and pro bono representation. A 30-year-old man had died after being struck by a car as he attempted to cross Highway 99 near Manor Way in Everett around 10 p.m. Thursday night. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was pronounced dead.

A man who fled after crashing a stolen car was able to elude a police K-9 because the scent was lost when he entered water. Kirkland police were called to a report of an attempted burglary and found a man fleeing in a stolen car early Thursday.

A woman and child were injured early Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of Oak Harbor. Both were taken to Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville. The driver, 48, is under investigation for vehicular assault.

A semi truck hauling two FedEx trailers initiated a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 405 overnight, leaving two people injured.  Arriving at the scene, troopers and medics found a semi truck and trailers lying on their side at the exit.

A 22-year-old Lacey man was killed early Wednesday morning crash in Olympia. The collision happened at about 1:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue.

A 5-year-old was critically injured after a car hit a tree overnight in Auburn. The 21-year-old male driver and an 8-year-old girl have non-life threatening injuries. The car was traveling 90 mph when it ran off the road around 2:30 a.m.

A 69-year-old pedestrian hit by a car in Seattle’s Fairmount Park Neighborhood Sunday night has died. About 9:15 p.m., a Ford sedan was traveling northbound on 35th Avenue Southwest.
