The accident started at about 7:15am, when Jamilent Miranda, 26, was attempting to pass Guadarrama, who was driving a semi-truck, but ended up losing control of her vehicle and striking the semi-truck.
Teresita Ronquillo was driving in a car with passenger Steven Schmele on Interstate 82 when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road and span out in fron of a tractor-trailer driven by Gerald Krupp, 63.
At around 10:00am, Alvarez made a turn onto SR 223 and ran into the back of a semi-truck driven by Stephen Moore, 48.
At about 3:00am, a car driven by Morales, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crashed into a control box and tranformer at an intersection, which took out the power for the traffic lights.
Just before 6:00pm, Izguerra-Leal's Explorer was stopped on Highway 12 when another Explorer driven by Erika F. Pinon, 31, that was traveling in the same direction rear-ended her.

At around 3:25pm, Sveen was driving east on State Route 410 when she lost control and veered off the roadway to left across the westbound lane, which caused the car to roll into a ditch and come to rest upside-down.
A pickup spun out on I-90 while descending from the summit at Snoqualmie Pass, causing three semi-trailers to crash, according to one of the truck drivers.
