A Simpson County teen is critically injured after a one-vehicle crash near Mendenhall.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Chasidy Wade lost control of her Acura TL while trying to avoid hitting a cat.
She was traveling northbound on Highway 13 when she went across the southbound lane of Highway 13. Wade then left the roadway and hit a tree.
She was taken to Simpson General Hospital and airlifted to UMC where she remains in critical condition tonight.
The investigation is still ongoing.
A man standing on the sidewalk waiting to cross the street was struck and killed by an SUV spinning out of control from a two-car crash, police said.
A car traveling westbound on Greenway tried to turn left onto 29th Street and hit the SUV that was heading eastbound, officers said.
The SUV spun after getting hit and struck Cameron Matthew Hall.
The intersection at 29th Street and Greenway is expected to be closed for several hours while police follow up their investigation.

A man driving a blue Toyota in the northbound lanes of Archer Avenue was passing other vehicles on the right shoulder about 6:20 a.m. when he lost control and ended up in the southbound lanes, where he was hit by a Dodge pickup, a Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
The 48-year-old driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the man’s death, but his name was not being released Monday morning.
