A teen from Wendell died late Thursday after a single-car accident on N.C. Highway 231 near Applewhite Road. Joseph Warren Early lost control of his vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. near Corinth Holders. The car departed the road, hit a ditch, a power pole, and then a tree. Early was ejected from the car, and died at the crash site.
Two students from Mapleton High School are reported dead after a crash on Oregon 126, a famously dangerous highway between Eugene and the coast where an average of three people die a year in accidents. Three other people, including the driver of the car are hospitalized but their identities and conditions are not known. More information as it is released.
Ogden Police responded to a call near 2100 Ogden Ave. and approached a Volkswagen Passat but the driver fled. Officers pursued the vehicle until it ran a stop sign and hit another car. The driver, a 16-year-old male, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was taken into custody. A passenger in the Passat, an 18-year-old male, was also taken into custody. Both teens had pre-existing warrants out for their arrest. Neither teen has been identified yet.
A third teenager has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in central Illinois on November 5. 17-year-old Dana Janssen of Harvel died Saturday at a Springfield hospital. Janssen was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident near Raymond. She overcorrected after leaving the roadway, which propelled her vehicle into the path of a van, which hit the car's passenger side. the collision killed 16-year-old Samantha DeLisle of Harvel. The backseat passenger, 17-year-old Jeffery Masters of Harvel, died at a hospital in Litchfield.
April Richardson of Moundville was driving a 2006 Honda Accord on Alabama 69 about 5 miles north of Greensboro around 10 p.m. Sunday when she crashed into a 2004 Chevy Suburban. The teenager and two people in the Suburban, including its driver, were killed in the accident. Two other adult passengers in the Chevy were also injured, but not severely.
The identities of the other two people killed are being withheld pending notification of family.
A 16-year-old male was standing near the rear driver side door of a car that was parked near Broomfield High School when he was struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle was a 17-year-old male who was not injured, and attends a school in Lafayette. The victim was transported to a local medical center where he is listed in critical condition.
