A teen is in critical condition after a car crashes in Quincy on County Road 270 just east of Interstate 10 when driver Nicole Aimee Bartell veered off the road, over corrected, and collided with a tree. Bartell has serious injuries, and the 13 year old is in critical condition.

Authorities say a 2-year-old boy died after being struck by a Tampa water department truck at an apartment complex. Tampa police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor says Demetric Laynton darted between two vehicles Thursday night and the truck driver wasn't able to stop before hitting him. McGregor says the driver was "visibly shaken." The child was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. Police say the child was being watched by a friend of his mother while she ran errands.

 Lee County deputy was found at fault in an accident that killed Austin Dukette, 15.  Deputy Douglas E. Hood was cited for careless driving following a two-month investigation.  Austin was riding his bike to school on August 22nd and Hood hit the back tire of the boy's bike, from behind, with his patrol car on Kismet Parkway and Northwest Seventh Avenue, in Cape Coral, FL.

Florida Highway Patrol has identified the woman and baby killed in a crash in Volusia County on Thursday. The crash occurred just before noon at State Road 40 at County Road 3 in Pierson. Troopers said Victoria Potter, 21, and 10-week-old Terry Peterson, both of Astor, were killed in the crash. Potter was driving eastbound on SR 40 when the truck, which was driving westbound on SR 40, came into the eastbound lanes and collided with Potter's Ford Explorer. The driver of the truck was taken to Halifax Hospital with serious injuries.

Miami Police say a three-year-old who was thrown from a car Tuesday evening was not restrained when the accident happened. A three-year-old child was thrown from the SUV involved in this accident and later died. According to the accident report, the Tahoe, driven by Kayden's sister, Kierra Lee, 19, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign which caused a crash with a silver Cadillac. Police said if the child had been properly restrained in a car seat, he would not have been thrown from the car and most likely would have survived the crash with his sister.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a drunk driver ran into two construction workers along U.S. 41 in Port Charlotte, killing one. The crash happened late Wednesday as 22-year-old Mark Andrew Caton and 39-year-old Jemel Gardener were performing road maintenance. Troopers say 26-year-old Christopher Allen Best didn't see a pickup truck with flashing overhead LED lighting signaling traffic to switch lanes. His Oldsmobile struck the men, pinning them between the car and the pickup truck.

Three children -- ages 2, 5 and 7 -- were critically injured late Sunday in a four-vehicle crash in Marion County involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, officials said. The children were airlifted to UF Health Shands after the crash, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 75 at mile marker 345 near Ocala. According to the FHP, 20-year-old Trooper Raul J. Umana was traveling northbound in a marked cruiser and attempted to make a U-turn in the median of the highway. His cruiser, however, struck a guardrail and was redirected into southbound lanes of I-75, the FHP said.

A motorist who struck a 17-year-old student on 58th Avenue at 6:30 a.m. Thursday has been cited for failing to stop for a school bus, according to a Indian River County Sheriff’s spokesman. The bus was stopped and its lights were on and a sign was out when the student was attempting to cross 58th Avenue, at 42nd Street, to get to the bus, police said. Emergency officials said the female student was talking before she was taken to the trauma center at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, Fort Pierce, emergency officials said.

Authorities are questioning several people to determine who was driving a car that struck and killed a 3-year-old San Mateo boy. Morgan Wallace Calaway died Tuesday night after he somehow escaped from a family member's home and wandered into the street. Florida Highway Patrol officials said he was struck by a white Honda. Authorities found the car a few miles away after the accident.
