Memphis police have identified the person who was killed in a single-car crash Tuesday evening.

Helen Hytken, 93, was found dead in her car after she crashed in the 4600 block of Hillmont in the Berclair area, police said.

According to police, Hytken hit a curb, drove to the end of the road and hit a guardrail, which the car got stuck under. Witnesses told police that Hytken started revving her motor and the tires spun until the car caught fire.

Authorities pronounced her dead on the scene.

Illinois State Police say Roger Hein, 56, crashed into a tree around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday between Stockton and Lena on Highway 20. Investigators say early reports show he may have suffered some kind of medical attack before the crash. Police are still trying to figure out what went wrong. The highway was closed for nearly ten hours.

UPDATE: A busy Stateline highway is expected to re-open soon. Police say a semi-truck driver is killed after slamming into a tree.
All lanes on U.S. Route 20 between Stockton and Lena have been closed for nearly eight hours.

A driver was ambushed inside a vehicle Thursday morning by his passenger's husband and was later struck and killed by a car in New Smyrna Beach, according to police. New Smyrna Beach police said Darrell Fitzwater, 38, and his girlfriend, Donna Lynam, were driving westbound on State Road 44 at 6 a.m. when Lynam's husband, Donald, came out of hiding from the back of the van and attacked Fitzwater. Fitzwater stopped on State Road 44 and continued fighting with Donald Lynam. Lynam then pushed his wife back into the van and began driving eastbound, leaving Fitzwater on S.R.

The 35-year-old man killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking along M-14 earlier this week has been identified in an online obituary as Evan Price O'Connor. Family members reached by phone Friday confirmed his identity, but did not wish to comment any further. Police were called to eastbound M-14 near the intersection of Barton Drive at 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a body in the median. Investigators believe O'Connor was the victim of a hit-and-run. No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.

Police say a Sammamish woman accidentally drove her SUV through her house, killing her husband and critically injuring her daughter and son-in-law. Neighbors say the woman went outside her home in the 3400 block of Lake Sammamish Lane SE on Friday evening to re-park her new white Jeep.  When the SUV crashed through the house, investigators say it hit the driver's husband, daughter and son-in-law. The daughter and son-in-law are the parents of the 3- year-old who was inside the Jeep. They were listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Friday night.

A recovery effort is underway after a tractor trailer crashed into a maintenance truck before jack-knifing and crashing into the Chesapeake Bay Thursday morning.

The tractor trailer traveled over the bridge near mile marker 15 shortly after 10:00 a.m.

The tractor trailer driver was heading northbound, as workers were on the CBBT making repairs to cracks.

The tractor trailer crashed into one of the maintenance trucks, as well as a light pole, police say. It then went over the railing and into the water.

Two people died Wednesday after a car slammed into a house and burst into flames.

The vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Altima, crashed into the home just before 11 a.m. in the 400 block of Rambler Road, killing the car’s driver and passenger. No one was inside the home when the crash happened, according to Merced police.

Both bodies were badly burned in the wreck and neither has been identified by investigators, Sgt. Jay Struble said. “We have not determined if they are males or females or where they are from,” Struble said.

Bergen County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident Wednesday morning on Route 4 eastbound.

A pedestrian was struck and killed near the Grand Avenue entrance to Route 4 eastbound, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said on Twitter.

The pedestrian was dragged further up the highway, where the body was found at 4:15 a.m., Molinelli said.

Route 4 eastbound was still closed at Grand Avenue at 7:45 a.m. for the investigation. Police are detouring traffic to Grand Avenue southbound.

Rochester Police said a motorcyclist was killed in a serious accident on Route 104 across from Maplewood Park.

Police said Ramon Gonzalez, 27, was traveling eastbound, before he lost control and crossed the road and into the path of an oncoming car.

He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he later died. 

Gonzalez is better known as his stage name "Jadiel el Tsunami."He was a famous Puerto Rican reggaeton singer.

A family friend said Gonzalez had millions of fans worldwide, especially in South America.

A Missouri man has died in an accident involving three motorcycles near Lawrence.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 47-year-old Todd Stevenson, of Gladstone, Missouri, was driving his motorcycle Saturday evening on U.S. 24 when he tried to pass on a curve and hit a group of motorcyclists.

The Lawrence Journal-World reports Stevenson was taken to a Topeka hospital, where he later died.

The patrol says Stevenson wasn't wearing a helmet.
