An Arlington teen was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle early Saturday after she fell or jumped from the SUV, police said.

Witnesses told in investigators that 17-year-old Lelys Leyva-Monreal was riding with four other people around 2:45 a.m. when she began hanging out the window.

She tumbled from the SUV, even though one of her friends attempted to pull her inside.

After hitting the pavement in the 1500 block of South Cooper Street, Leyva-Monreal was run over by the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at Medical Center of Arlington a short time later.

Two fire trucks collided Monday morning while responding to a fire on the West Side and two firefighters were taken to the hospital.

The crash occurred in the 2200 block of S. Zarzamora near U.S. 90 at around 11:05 a.m. and the two firefighters were not seriously injured but were taken to the hospital for cautionary reasons, said SAFD Fire Chief Charles Hood.

“We are very, very happy there weren't more serious injuries,” Hood said.

Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened just after midnight Thursday on the far west side of San Antonio.

Police said an unidentified man was riding his Harley Davidson southbound on Highway 151, near Rodgers Road and Military Drive, when he failed to negotiate the curve of the highway and drove the motorcycle off the roadway.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the man was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the bike. Officers said the victim died as a result of his injuries.

One person died and another was in critical condition after a rollover crash early Wednesday on Interstate 10 in East Bexar County.

The wreck occurred when a man driving a pickup westbound just before 1 a.m. in the 13000 block of the highway tried to pass another vehicle, said a spokeswoman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

In the process, the pickup rear-ended a trailer that was being towed by another pickup, police said.

The pickup without the trailer lost control and rolled over in the grassy median between the main lanes and the access road, Hughes said.

A motorcycle patrolman with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office was injured Monday in a crash on the western border between San Antonio and unincorporated Bexar County.

The deputy, who was not identified, was responsive and his injuries are not life threatening, said a BCSO spokesman.

The deputy was on duty when he crashed on Highway 151 near Loop 1604, police said.

“It is my understanding, based on an initial report, that he was pursuing somebody for a traffic stop,” police said.

A man was struck by a white sedan while trying to cross I-10 near the Colorado Street exit downtown, according to a spokeswoman with Texas Department of Transportation.

SAFD responded to the call around 6:20 p.m. and the scene took around two hours to clear.

The man was pronounced dead on scene.

A woman died Thursday afternoon after her car collided with a truck on the Southwest Side.

A Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said the woman, later identified as Yvonne Vidalez, 29, had been heading north on the Interstate 35 access road at Shepherd Road around 3 p.m. A 15-year-old female was her passenger.

A man, 39, driving a truck the opposite direction began to make a left turn at a stop sign when the front left portion of the woman's car struck the truck, authorities said.

A woman, 46, sustained life-threatening injuries when a Miata convertible she was riding in was T-boned by a Chevrolet Tahoe at 9 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 281 and TPC Parkway.

A man, also 46, was driving the convertible, which was turning left onto TPC Parkway from southbound 281. A man, 50, driving the SUV northbound, ran a red light and crashed into the convertible, said Sgt. Ramiro Juarez of the San Antonio Police Department.

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition at a San Antonio, Tex., hospital after he was struck by an 18-wheeler and dragged along a road as he walked to school early Monday.

The junior at O'Connor High School in Helotes, suffered "significant injuries" and was in surgery at University Hospital at around noon, school and police officials said.

His name was not released.

Authorities said the boy was walking to school along Leslie Rd. at around 8:30 a.m. when a friend stopped and offered him a ride.

A man died late Tuesday after running his motorcycle off the road on the far North Side.

Octaviano Luis Longoria Espinosa, 23, had been riding his 2001 BMW K-series motorcycle westbound just before 10:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Sonterra Boulevard, according to police. Espinosa hit the curb and rocks in the median caused him to fall off his motorcycle and land in the roadway.

Police said Espinosa was not wearing a helmet.

He was pronounced dead at the scene just before midnight.
