A 68-year-old Stuart woman was in serious condition late Monday after she was injured in a hit-and-run crash that morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Janet T. Anastasia, was struck while walking in the area of Southeast Washington Street and Southeast Dryfus Avenue, FHP said. The crash happened just after 10:30 a.m. along the south shoulder of the roadway. Anastasia was rushed to Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce with serious injuries. According to FHP, Anastasia was struck by white Jeep SUV. A woman in the Jeep then drove away.
One person was transported to a trauma center in serious condition after an ultralight aircraft crashed at about 11 a.m. Sunday on the north side of Indiantown, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.
The crash happened on private property in a wooded area at Underhill Farms in the 27600 block of Martin Highway, said Daniel Wouters, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
The pilot was the only person on board the plane at the time of the crash, Wouters confirmed.
A 27-year-old Stuart man died early Saturday in a wreck on Southwest Martin Downs Boulevard in Palm City, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Philip Wade Harvey Jr. was driving his 2011 Hyundai Accent eastbound near Southwest Mapp Road when a 2009 Acura MDX struck him from behind, FHP said. The Acura continued its forward motion and pushed Harvey’s Hyundai through the intersection and further down the roadway.
A multiple car crash on I-95 Saturday night in Delray Beach injured six people, four of whom were hurt seriously enough to go to the hospital, and was followed almost immediately by a second crash that had rescuers returning to the scene. Two people were injured in the second crash and taken to the hospital in stable condition. According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, the first crash happened at 11:11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Linton Boulevard.
Jupiter police continue to investigate a crash in which a vehicle hit a man crossing Indiantown Road Thursday night, sending him to the hospital with critical injuries, a police spokesman said Friday.
The crash happened at 7:45 p.m. when an eastbound vehicle hit the man as he crossed Indiantown Road at Hepburn Avenue. Paramedics called to the scene found bystanders performing CPR on the man, said a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman.
The injured man, whose name has not been released, was flown by Trauma Hawk to Delray Medical Center.
A man in his 50s is in critical condition after he was struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle in Fort Pierce Thursday morning. The SUV involved in the crash did not stop. According to St. Lucie Fire Rescue, the man was riding his bike on 25th Street near Orange Avenue around 10:10 a.m. when he was hit. Fort Pierce Police officers are investigating the crash. There is no information on the driver of the vehicle or description of the SUV at this time.
