A 52-year-old woman was killed in a crash that took place on Lewisberry Road earlier Friday afternoon in Monaghan Township, according to the York County Coroner. The crash was reported on Lewisberry Road near Mowery Road toward 2:19 p.m. Friday, according to York County's 911 live incident status website. The crash was also reported as an ejection, but no further details were available as of Friday afternoon. Gay was not releasing the name of the woman as of 5 p.m.

A Bellingham man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault after a passenger in his car was injured in a suspected drunk driving crash early Thursday, March 13. Aaron C. Loffler, 35, was driving his 2004 Volkswagen Jetta west on Alderwood Avenue at about 2:15 a.m., when he drove off the road and struck a power pole near Marine Drive. Loffler ran from the crash scene. Loffler wasn't injured, but his passenger, 33-year-old Olympia resident Joel R. Swenson, was taken to St. Joseph hospital.

Shots fired by a Wasilla police officer and an Alaska State Trooper killed a suspected drunk driver who tried to elude them Sunday night, troopers said. Both fired at Gorden E. Samel, 52, of Wasilla, after he backed his pickup toward the officer following a brief but chaotic chase, according to troopers. An adult male passenger in the truck received injuries described as not life-threatening; he was not identified.

Delaware County authorities are searching for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Collingdale and then fled the scene.

Collingdale police say the victim, 58-year-old Timothy McCaughan, was in the intersection of Spruce Street and Clifton Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck by an SUV.

According to police, a witness saw the driver stop, get out of the vehicle, make a comment, then get back into the SUV and speed off, heading south on Clifton Avenue.

The victim was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A 19-year-old man was injured Thursday when he was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Metro Square shopping center, police said. Cory Beauchamp, of East Hartford, was taken to Hartford Hospital. Police did not comment on the extent of his injuries but said the accident was "serious." The vehicle that struck him, a 2012 Kia, was driven by 70-year-old Olive Marie Marshall, of Westbrook, police said. The accident happened about 5:10 p.m., according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday on an elderly pedestrian struck and killed by a snowplow in Pennsylvania. Emergency crews were called to a street in Reading shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday. The 71-year-old victim, later identified as Gilbert Birdsey, was rushed to Reading hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. Police and the forensic unit of the Berks County district attorney’s office are investigating. Public works officials and the mayor’s office have not commented on the accident.

An 18-year-old BYU student remains in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding her longboard skateboard, according to her parents. Lexi Mae Hansen was hit Wednesday evening as she was crossing Canyon Road on her longboard. Lt. Matt Siufanua with the Provo Police Department said Hansen was riding her longboard south on University Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night when she was hit by a car making a turn onto Canyon Road.

Interstate 40 was shut down in both directions in the Ludlow area in the Mojave Desert following a massive gas spill.

A semi-truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas liquid natural gas (according to Accident Data Center comment from Ken below) drifted into the median, landed in a ditch and overturned, spilling the gas.

Caltrans said the freeway is expected to be shut down until at least noon between Hector and Ludlow roads.

The route is heavily traveled by semi-trucks. Area residents reported smelling the spilled gas, but no evacuations were ordered.

An accident that left two men dead is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Maverick Drilling, the company the men worked for. The two oil field workers were electrocuted Monday when they were struck by a fallen electrical line in far southwest Houston, authorities said. A crane apparently hit the line about 2:30 p.m. in a field along the 16800 block of Blue Ridge near FM 2234, near Fort Bend County. Paramedics gave the men CPR as an ambulance rushed them to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, officials said, where they died.

One person was transported to a trauma center in serious condition after an ultralight aircraft crashed at about 11 a.m. Sunday on the north side of Indiantown, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.

The crash happened on private property in a wooded area at Underhill Farms in the 27600 block of Martin Highway, said Daniel Wouters, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.

The pilot was the only person on board the plane at the time of the crash, Wouters confirmed.
