A press memo from the Washington State Patrol says a white 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 25-year-old Matthew J. Mirelez was eastbound on Van Belle Road approaching Brien Lane when Mirelez swerved to miss a dog in the roadway. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll.

A three-vehicle crash was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at Yakima Valley Highway and Puterbaugh Road, near Grandview, Washington. Martinez, driving a Chrysler Sebring, and Gonsalez, driving a Mazda RX8, were traveling east on Yakima Valley Highway when Martinez tried to pass Gonsalez.
