A southwest Florida baby is hospitalized after being injured during a car crash. The 15-month-old child was not restrained at the time of the accident. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit were called in Saturday morning to investigate the crash on State Road 82. Bryan Stevens was driving a 2004 black Chevrolet 1500 when he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck Victor Perez Gomez's 2000 red Ford 150. The two trucks collided nearly head on, but alcohol did not play a role in the accident.

Part of Vashon Highway was blocked Saturday afternoon after a fatal collision between a car and a motorcycle. The collision happened at about 4:30 p.m. The King County Sheriff’s Office said the motorcyclist was stopped and waiting to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a vehicle. Investigators had to take a ferry to reach the scene. Ferry traffic was delayed. Deputies expected to have the highway blocked at least until 8 p.m.

A driver killed in a two-car crash on Interstate Highway 780 in Benicia early Saturday morning has been identified as a 29-year-old Vallejo man, according to the California Highway Patrol. Eric Deleon Sopang was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash around 12:40 a.m. on westbound Highway 780 just west of the Interstate Highway 680 connector, according to the CHP. A 29-year-old woman from Vallejo riding in the passenger seat of Sopang’s car suffered a broken arm in the crash, and a third passenger was unharmed, the CHP is reporting.

A man was struck by an SUV and killed early Saturday three blocks from his home in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. Artiz McBride, 20, was struck by the SUV while he was crossing the street about 12:45 a.m. in the 0 – 100 block of South Central Avenue, authorities said. The SUV then sped away, police said. McBride, of the 0 – 100 block of North Long Avenue, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A small plane crash-landed right onto a man riding a lawn mower, chopping off his hand. Edward Eugene Sisson, the 84-year-old pilot of the single-engine plane, collided with a lawn mower operator while landing at North Carolina’s Taylorsville Airport Saturday afternoon. Sisson is an experienced pilot who was flying in from Crossville, Tenn., to visit family in Taylorsville, State Highway Patrol Sergeant Brian Owenby stated.

A 45-year-old Manheim man was admitted to hospital Saturday morning with life-threatening injuries after he was thrown off his motorcycle during a crash with a car. Two other people were injured, but released from hospital. The crash happened just after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Bucknoll Road and Holly Tree Road in Penn Township, Lancaster County.

A man was taken to St. Joseph hospital with life-threatening injuries after rolling his vehicle at 12:01 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in the median of Interstate 5 in Ferndale. Witnesses told police the man was driving his 1994 Land Rover Range Rover north when he tried to pass on the left shoulder near Portal Way, lost control, and rolled. The injured driver was the only occupant.

A Norton man was arrested after a car crash in Mansfield resulted in the death of a man Friday night.

Officials responded to a motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Route 140 at around 11:57 p.m., where they say that 23-year-old Nicholas Salvo was traveling at a high speed and ran a red light at the intersection of Norfolk St.

Salvo was placed under arrest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. He has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, OUI and other traffic-related violations.

A driver on probation for a traffic offense was jailed Saturday on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the Friday night death of a Minneapolis mail handler.

Charles R. Lord, 65, died at North Memorial Medical Center at 1:39 a.m. Saturday — 3½ hours after the accident at W. Broadway and Logan Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office.

A 32-year-old suspect ran away from the scene after Lord was run over on a sidewalk and the van ran into a building shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

Two adults and a teen were injured in a fiery crash in Richland Center Friday evening, officials said.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on Highway 14 west of County Road B at 6:45 p.m.
