Two people were killed early Wednesday morning during a high-speed chase with a deputy from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

The Darlington County Coroner identified the victims as 27-year-old Amberly McKenzie Hunnicutt and 23-year-old Tyler Evans Terry, both of Hartsville.

Hunnicutt and Terry were in a car that was in the early stages of being pursued when their vehicle struck the Black Creek Bridge on Old Camden Road, flipped onto its roof and was then struck by the pursuing cruiser, Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd said.

A motorist is in critical condition after his vehicle was hit by a man fleeing from police.

The crash happened about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday on Graymont Avenue. The name of the victim hasn't been released, but a Birmingham police spokesman said his injuries were life-threatening.

The police department's Crime Reduction Team spotted a vehicle driving without a tag and tried to make a traffic stop, Edwards said. The man - later identified as 27-year-old Troy McClure - drove about a block and acted like he was going to pull over for officers.

A single-vehicle wreck Wednesday night in Columbia County left a man dead and four people injured, the Arkansas State Police said.

A 1999 Ford truck driven by Blaine Acklin, 22, of Magnolia was driving west on Columbia County Road 53 about 11 p.m. when the pickup failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree, according to a preliminary state police accident report.

A passenger, Austin Blake Glass, 19, of Emerson, was pronounced dead early Thursday at Magnolia Regional Medical Center, state police said.

The North Carolina Highway patrol says a 16-year-old died Wednesday afternoon in a single-car crash.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on Lebanon Rd. near Mill Creek Rd. in Orange County.

Troopers said 16-year-old Desmond Piccini of Mebane was driving a 1989 Ford Mustang east on Lebanon Rd. when the car travelled onto the eastbound shoulder.

Piccini apparently overcorrected, causing the car to cross the center line onto the westbound shoulder, where it hit a rock wall and overturned.

A 19-year-old man was killed Wednesday in a motorcycle crash in Surry County.

Authorities said the crash happened at Highway 601 and West Mount Herman Church Road about 6:40 p.m.

Investigators said two motorcycles were riding together when the 19-year-old lost control and struck another vehicle.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

A 36-year-old Meridian man was hospitalized after reportedly losing control of his motorcycle and crashing late Wednesday night.

Dave Briggs, 36, of Meridian was driving on Chinden Boulevard near McDermott Road in Meridian when he lost control of his 2004 Buell motorcycle, hit a roadway barrier, and was ejected, according to Idaho State Police.

An ISP trooper who witnessed the crash reports Briggs was traveling 66 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.

Briggs was taken to St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise with unspecified injuries.

A 63-year-old Snow Hill man was killed Wednesday when he crashed his car into an oncoming vehicle, police said.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. According to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Eltee Thomas Shockley Jr., was driving a 2005 Hyundai northbound on Lewis Road. He lost control of his vehicle while going around a curve in the road and struck an oncoming 2011 Chevrolet Traverse sideways. Shockley was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 60-year-old man is dead after he stepped into a highway, according to the Greenville County coroner.

The coroner stated that James Melvin stepped into Highway 253 at 10 p.m. Wednesday and was hit by a Ford Expedition.

This happened near Leone Avenue, the coroner said.

A bicyclist died Wednesday night when a pickup hit him as he was riding on a street in Galena Park.

Isidro Martinez Campos was killed in the incident, which occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of N. Main, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Campos was riding a bicycle on the improved shoulder along the roadway when he entered the southbound lane of traffic, failing to yield the right of way to a 1999 GMC pickup. The truck, which was traveling southbound on the road, hit him.

A driver was killed, and a passenger was injured in a Laurens County wreck Wednesday night.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, the incident at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on SC 56, about one mile outside Clinton.

Troopers say a 2013 Dodge was traveling south on SC 56, when the driver went off the right side of the road, down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned.

The 73-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joshua Parker,23, was a passenger in that vehicle and was transported to Self Regional for his injuries.
