A Santa Fe man was killed early Saturday morning when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Agua Fria near Airport Road and his car struck a guard rail, partially ejecting him through the window.

Francisco Chavez, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said. According to the sheriff’s office: Chavez, who was not wearing a seat beat was, was thrown into the passenger side of his Chevrolet Cobalt and bent the car’s door frame. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash but excessive speed is being investigated as a cause.

An East Hartford teen is dead after a Honda struck a sanitation truck on Silver Lane in East Hartford on Monday. The crash happened on Silver Lane near the intersection with Holland Lane around 11 a.m. Monday and police identified the driver of the car as Leonel Colon, 17, of East Hartford. On Monday, police said the car was stolen and the driver lost control. Officers pursued the Honda on Burnside Avenue earlier Monday morning, but the chase was called off and was not connected to the crash, according to police.

Pierce County sheriff’s investigators are searching for a driver who killed a Tacoma man in a three-car crash Monday morning and fled on foot. The accident happened just before 6 a.m. in the 400 block of Waller Road. “We believe the hit-and-run driver crossed the center line and struck the victim head-on,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. Douglas Davis, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis worked at The Boeing Company. A third car crashed into the wreckage. That driver was not seriously injured.

A train crash in Earlville has killed a 36-year-old man. Jose Moncada-Nava of Dyersville was driving south on North West Street about 4:45 a.m. Monday when a Canadian Nation train hit the passenger side of his car. The crash mangled the car and threw it 50 feet. Moncad-Nava was taken away by ambulance to a Manchester hospital where he died. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

A 51-year-old man died Monday morning after what authorities say may have been an accidental hanging at a water storage and pump station south of Keenseburg.

Emergency crews including the Weld County Sheriff's Office were called around 10 a.m. to the oil and gas-related operation near the intersection of Weld County roads 40 and 57 on a report of a man who was not breathing, said Shane Scofield, a spokesman with the sheriff's office.

Authorities responded and found a man who was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Woodland reopened after a fatal crash early this morning involving a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian. The crash was reported at 2:09 a.m. when Phillip Reich, the 47-year-old Covington man driving the big rig called to report that he had hit someone. The tractor-trailer driver told investigators that he was driving in the right lane, saw reflection of taillights on the right shoulder and moved to the center lane and struck something.

The Etowah County Deputy Coroner said three people died as a result of a wreck on Alabama 77 in Attalla this morning. The accident occurred in front of Wendy's near the Walmart Supercenter at 7:26 a.m. today. Head said multiple witnesses saw a Toyota Camry traveling north on Alabama 77 veer into the southbound lane for reasons that are unclear. Traveling south was an 18-wheel truck carrying a mobile home. The car struck the underside of the mobile home, sheering the top of the car.

A 22-year-old Ledyard man is facing DUI charges after crashing his car into a utility pole and fleeing the scene early this morning, according to police. Police said Eric Grubbs was driving through Gales Ferry when he struck a pole on Washington Drive near Long Cove Road around 4:30 a.m. Monday. Officers arrived on scene to find that Grubbs had gotten out and fled on foot. A state police K-9 unit brought in to track him found Grubbs lying in the woods, police said.

A Durham County public school bus was involved in an accident late Monday morning. The accident happened along NC Highway 98 at Breedlove Avenue in east Durham just before noon, right as schools were releasing early due to inclement weather. According to Chip Sudderth with Durham Public Schools, eight high school students from City of Medicine Academy were on board Bus 418 when a black car collided into the side of the bus. Images from the scene showed the car with heavy damage, but it was unclear what caused the accident.

One person was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Grand Rapids Monday morning. Around 7 a.m. Monday, Grand Rapids Police were called to a scene near the intersection of Michigan Street and Bel Air Drive NE. Police say a pedestrian was killed in the accident. The driver that hit the victim fled the scene. A passerby found the victim, a woman, in the road. Police think the victim was walking to work. Police say there were no witnesses to the accident. They believe it is a hit and run accident because some debris was found in the road.
